From surviving to thriving!

Heather Friend, LCSW
Do you enjoy learning about yourself, seeking joy, purpose, and growth, all while keeping a sense of humor about life and yourself even when facing challenges? Are you dealing with stress, anxiety, major life changes or adjustments (career, moving, marriage, separation, break-up, or divorce), trauma, or grief and loss? Are you a survivor of abuse and hoping to heal? Are you a parent or caregiver who is struggling to hold yourself together while trying to support your child? Are you challenged with an issue and need a helpful guide?
Time does not heal all wounds. But what you do with your time can make a HUGE difference. Together, we can work on helping you understand more about how to manage what you are experiencing. I like seeing the results in my clients' feeling happier, healthier, and satisfied.
I believe in the team approach during therapy; we can collaborate to gain new perspectives, learn new skills, and work to overcome challenges together. I believe in meeting you where you are and moving at the correct pace. Respect, open-mindedness, and compassion are at the core of my practice. I fully respect the autonomy of my clients, and I view each client as the expert on their own life. I am committed to promoting your well-being.
Whether it’s your first time in therapy or you have had experience in the past, thank you for checking out my site. I know from personal experience that weeding through all the therapists is a daunting task. But finding the best fit for you is essential.

“The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction not a destination.”
Carl R. Rogers

About Me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work. I have over twelve years of experience working in the field of mental health. I have worked in residential treatment, in-patient, crisis, and outpatient behavioral health services. I have been practicing at a clinical level since 2019. I practice in community settings, at home therapy sessions, and over video.
I work with individual adolescents, adults, older adults, and caregivers (parents, foster parents, adoptive parents, family kinship, families involved with the child welfare system, and grandparents raising grandchildren). I also have extensive experience working with individuals involved or previously involved in the foster care system.
I am passionate about the work that I do! I am an agent of empowerment in practice. It is a blessing for me to see clients learn to manage the challenges of their lives and move from surviving to thriving!
